• Stall Width: 60" minimum clear floor space (side transfer) or 36" wide (forward approach — rarely used)
• Stall Depth: 56" minimum (side approach) or 59" with wall-mounted WC
• Centerline: WC centerline 16"–18" from side wall
• Seat Height: 17"–19" to top of seat
• Flush Control: On open side; max 44" from floor
• Grab Bars: 42" side bar + 36" rear bar; 33"–36" from floor
• Rim Height: Max 34" above floor
• Knee Clearance: Min 27" high × 30" wide × 19" deep below lavatory
• Drain / Pipes: Must be insulated or configured to prevent contact
• Faucet: Operable with closed fist — lever or sensor operated
• Clear Floor Space: 30" × 48" centered on lavatory
• FL DBPR Chapter 61C-4 (hotels) and Chapter 61C-1 (restaurants) mandate ADA compliance for all new construction and significant remodels
• Unisex accessible single-user restroom may satisfy ADA in small-establishment exception (≤5 WCs total)
• FL Building Code Chapter 11 mirrors ADA 2010 with minor amendments — both apply simultaneously
• HVHZ: no additional ADA amendments for Miami-Dade / Broward — federal and FL standards apply
FPC 403.1 General Rule: Every building used for human occupancy, employment, recreation, or other purposes shall be provided with minimum plumbing fixtures per FPC Table 403.1.
FPC 403.2 — Single-Toilet Exception: In a building or tenant space with a maximum of 15 occupants, the toilet facilities for both sexes may be combined in a single unisex toilet facility meeting ADA requirements.
FPC 403.3 — Employee Facilities: Employee toilet facilities shall be separate from customer facilities when occupant load exceeds 150 per gender.
FPC 403.4 — Public Access Required: Toilet facilities shall be accessible to the public without charge in assembly (A) and mercantile (M) occupancies when the area exceeds 20,000 sq ft or occupant load exceeds 300.
FL DBPR Chapter 509 / Rule 61C-4:
• Handwashing sinks: required in food prep area, every 300 sq ft, minimum 1 per cook line
• 3-compartment sink: required for all food establishments (DBPR 61C-4.010)
• Mop sink / service sink: required in every food service establishment
• Employee toilet: separate from customer toilet when >15 employees on peak shift
• Customer toilet: required when seating capacity ≥ 20 or takeout area ≥ 2,000 sq ft
• Toilet room signage: DBPR requires "Employees Must Wash Hands" in all FL food service restrooms
• Grease trap / interceptor: required — see FL DBPR 61C-4 and FPC Section 1003
Service / Mop Sinks (FPC Table 403.1):
• Assembly (A), Business (B): 1 per floor or 1 per 750 occupants, whichever is greater
• Mercantile (M): 1 per 100,000 sq ft
• Industrial (F): 1 per building (minimum)
Drinking Fountains (FPC 403.1 / ADA §602):
• Required in occupancies >300 sq ft (B, E, M, A) — 1 per 75 occupants
• ADA requires 2 units: 1 accessible (max 36" to spout) + 1 standing height (38"–43")
• Exception: single accessible unit acceptable if total occupant load ≤ 30
• FL Schools: 1 per 75 students — separate from restrooms (FPC E occupancy table)
• Bottle filler may substitute for 1 of 2 required fountains per FL Building Code interpretation
