ADA vs. Standard Rough-In Comparison
ADA requirements under 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design apply to commercial buildings and any residential units designated as accessible. FL Fair Housing requires accessible design in multi-family housing (4+ units). Many FL homeowners choose ADA heights for aging-in-place design.
FL Aging-in-Place Trend: With Florida's large retiree population, many residential clients request ADA-compliant rough-in heights even when not legally required. Planning accessible heights at rough-in costs nothing extra — retrofitting later costs $800–$3,500 per fixture.
